This is a painting by Sea Hyun lee, and I like it because it kinda tricks your eyes. When you first look at it it looks like a normal landscape with some clouds above the mountain but when you look close you see how the clouds are actually more land. Its like a landscape with two perspectives.

I think this is pretty clever, because of how big a pop culture hit angry birds is becoming it belongs in art like this.

This is an illustration by Josh Keyes, and I like it because of how strange it is. The subject matter is strange but also the shape, it looks 3D because of the base but its not. Keyes has similar pieces that are also in 3D shapes of drawings with animals in weird places.

This is one image of a serious of skeleton characters by Christian Montenegro. He covers most of the genres of music and a few other characters too. I find them very stylistic and fun to look at the details on.

I've seen more of this type of tape art but I think its a great idea. This is a pretty simple form of it because i've seen portraits of rock stars made from it, but this is pretty interesting itself.

So this is an illustration of the house of the Royal Tenenbaums, which if you don't know is a movie. I think the style of this fits the movie well and the detail in this image is very nice.

So this looks like it might be a album cover or something but its really wild and crazy. I like the colors used and how messy it gets at parts but everything is still pretty recognizable.

I'm a fan of collages and this one is pretty wild. Very fun to look at and try to figure out what the artist is trying to say.

I like the use of simple shapes to make something, in this case Mario. You can tell exactly what it is probably more because of the color rather than the shapes themselves. It would be interesting to make this over again with one color and see if its identifiable.

I ran into this one ffffound.com. I guess its a t-shit and I just though it was a funny play on words. Good illustration too.

I like the style of this, looks to be just a pen drawing, it has the hand drawn look to it. I think the gorilla head is really good, and the colors in the bike jump at you.

I like the simplicity of the shapes in it, it's a good style. The texture also adds good depth to this very flat drawing.

This artist takes well known paintings and places cartoon characters in them. I find it pretty funny and they are well done too.

I like illustrations that have things hidden in it like this one. This one is especially nice because it shows a dead guy in the gun, looks good too.

Thursday, February 24, 2011

I hink this image is pretty funny, and its so simple. The artist just switch the color of the kite, trees, and sky, and made a comically stronge piece.

This is another set of icons I found on ffffound.com from a nike designer. I think these are great, very stylish, and each have the nike logo in them twice and they both fit really well within the image.

I really like icons so when I find some really simple stylish icons they catch my eye. These ones are more detailed than some but they are really nice to look at.

I like this image because of the mostly two toned colors and then you see the little orange fish that stands out. All of the thin lines that show movement in the water looks really good.

I like this vector art and the use of open and shaded shapes to make really detailed things.

This is an interesting illustration because the trees make piano keys and then the artist decided to put a random giraffe in it i'm thinking for fun. I think the dynamics of the piece is great and the black and white only make the keys stand out.

I really like pixel art and I find this to be pretty funny. The use of a known video game character and to bring it into some sort of reality is pretty funny.

This reminds me of a scene from a frank miller comic or movie, just because of the action and the colors. Also I find interesting that the figure on the left, because you can't really tell for sure if its a mountain in the background or a evil figure that is in the foreground, to me it looks more like an evil figure.

I like this because its so simple and gets the point. I'd like to see it with even less detail and see if its still understandable.

I found this image, and It seems like an info-graph, but its different the most. I like the 3d effect of the map and the buildings. The way some of it is layered is cool too.

Monday, February 14, 2011

I really like how almost all of this image is made up of text and white space. There are only a few black lines that aren't text. Very cool way to make an image.

I really like this abstract piece, its just a bunch of squares and colors to make this city like structure.

Saturday, February 12, 2011

So this seems to be a concert poster that I found, I really like the style, and the use of just a few colors, really fun to look at.

This is a piece by Brett Wilkinson, I like it because its totally weird and so random. It also has so many little characters that you keep finding new things all the time. I also like the use of gray scale and it really works and gives a good depth to it.

This is an image by Daniel Ray Cole, I like it because they are like technical drawings of the evolution of cameras.

I thought it was pretty cool art to put on a fuse cover, since it is a funny image of an electrical maintenance worker.

I ran across this piece on ffffound.com and I just found it interesting, mainly because of its context. It has a bunch of mountains and then a giant white thing that kinda looks like a mountain but is a monster. Then it has some weird characters walking around, pretty strange.

This is an illustration by Camilo Carmon, I really like the simple lines to make this bird but you get all the detail you need to recognize this bird if it were in a bird watching book. Basically body shape and color for the bird in a very clean way.

This is a piece by Shepard Fairey, I really like his work, very propaganda like, this one I really like because I think its fun to see a gun acting like a sign and it looks good.

Saturday, February 5, 2011

I found this on ffffound.com, I think its clever that the artist combined the A-team van with the scooby-doo van to make this. The simple design is nice and detailed to the right point.

Friday, February 4, 2011

I really like this illustration, from a distance or zoomed out it looks almost like a painting of some sort, but then you get up close you can see how digital it really is. I really like the colors used the nice turquoise and the really red-ish pinks and orange.

I like the drawing style of this, like the clouds, and buildings. Very simple but you definably know what they are. Its similar to what I would do I think.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

I really like this image, its so fun to stare at and figure out what animals are in it. Its also so simple yet so complex, all it is is 3 colors and most of them or squiggly lines. With just a few patches of green for details.

Ran across this on ffffound.com. NOt sure who did it but I like the simple style with the shadows, it makes it not so simple looking anymore. Gives it a nice flat 3D effect.

I really like this realistic illustration, but yet its not totally life like. It still has a certain style to it that I like.

This is a pretty interesting image in that if you view it at the full size its very hard to see what it actually is, only when its smaller can you tell that its a stormtrooper.

I really like this illustration, the big chunks of color and not but detail. Its mainly the colors that bring this image together and make it possible to see what it is.

This is another illustration that is a play on words similar to my last post. It also has the simplistic retro look to it and its pretty funny.

ran across this on ffffound.com. I like the hand drawn old school look of this, and the play on bazooka bubble gum is pretty funny.

This is a business card by Brent Couchman, it has a retro feel to it, very simple and clean. Just two colors and looks as if it may had been written on notebook paper. The logo is also catchy, looks like an owl on a branch but its a book and pencil.

I like this collage I ran across on ffffound.com. Very retro style and form function.

This piece is by Allan Peters, I really like all the different little icons and what not overlapping and how the opacity of them creates new colors as they overlap.
